I’ll start with my old shop, first image, all 70 square feet of it. I would assemble pieces in the shop but the actual build was done outside, weather permitting. Now that we’re in our new home I had a blank slate to start with, second image. Right off the bat I saw that I had a sub panel with 2 x 20 amp breakers but here’s the rub. All the wiring was 14/2, for those who don’t know, 14/2 has a max load of 15 amp. Now to make matters worse both circuits shared the same common. What that boils down to is running two 20 amp loads on two circuits over 15 amp wire sharing a 20 amp common (20 + 20 = 40) over a single 15 amp wire. That’s all history, two new 20 amp breakers with 12/2 wire ran to all 20 amp outlets, I can put the marshmallows away now.

The next move was to finish insulating and throwing up the drywall. It then took me about a month to get all my tools situated but now I’m all settled in. I still need to get a bandsaw in the shop but I took that into consideration when setting things up. What a difference going from 70 square feet to 352 square feet. Now my wife always knows where to find me.
